Marie claire is thick and glossy and looks as though you're going to get a lot for your £2.60. But you don't. About 20% of it is made up of adverts and even worse about 40% is made up of pictures of models wearing clothes that most normal women wouldn't even consider wearing. Marie Claire manages to combine frivolous fashion items and jokey opinion pieces with classy, informed writing, particularly on women's issues around the world - a rare thing indeed!
