Advantages: Good features, good read, glossy magazine
Disadvantages: Too much on fashion
Maxim is a men's glossy with a varied contents which appeals to many men. It is geared to the 18's to 30's but some of us wrinklies buy it. Jokes, women, sport, fashion and features make it a real good read. But it is a copy of the original men's glossy FHM. Women may feel that any mans magazine exploits women but that can equally be said about womens magazines. They exploit men! There is no sex in Maxim. You may see the odd breast, but the photographic content is generally high class and very artful. But sometimes does not leave much to the imagination. The features are varied and very interesting. The jokes are good. Sport articles are brilliant but they favour soccer, although the minority sports do get a look in. Fashion has a large section. This spoils the magazine a little because it is too large. Maxim have plenty of competitions too and the prizes are very very high quality. If you buy the magazine on subscription, you save about 25% off the retailers price and delivered to your door. Maxim also offer free no obligation subscription trials and I suggest you take one of these up if you have not read the magazine before. One word of warning though, if you buy it on subscription, you will be on the Dennis Publications mailing list forever.
