About six months ago I decided to try a different lads magazine other than FHM and so I gave Maxim a go. Initially it was great, I sent off for a subscription which gave me three issues free, quite a bargain. When the magazine arrived it looked great, a glossy cover with a fine babe spread across it and some interesting articles advertised on the cover. The trouble began when I tried to find an article that should have been in there. It was plastered across the front page that this particular article would be in there, yet alas it wasn't. What's more the journalism doesn't make the article that are there pretty interesting either. Also the babes that feature in the magazine are often obscure ladies from Eastern Europe that you have never heard of (although this has improved lately). The fashion pages are that great either, the clothes they show either being far too expensive or far too tacky. There are two good points to the magazine though. Firstly it has a how to section, where it shows you how to do a wide range previously difficult tasks, and secondly the health section which has a lot of up to the minute information on how to stay ahead of the game. Oh and one last bonus is that it does have loads of competitions every month, so at least you might win something.
