My local newspaper is the Medway News and although the name has changed over the last few years the paper is basically the same. It is printed from Monday to Friday and costs a very reasonable 25p. Inside you get all the local news and the top stories from around the world. The local news is always given priority which is why I like it. Its good to know whats going on in your own neighbourhood and the Medway News certainly covers most points! As well as the news you also have the job pages. Each day has a different focus so throughout the week you will find a wide range of jobs. The "For sale" pages are great as well because if you are a "seller" then you don't have to pay to advertise and if you are a "buyer" then you know that you won't have to go too far to view the item you are after. The sport pages are excellent as they really do focus on all the sporting achievements of local clubs, teams and individuals. The Medway News actually sponsor Gillingham Football club so you can imagine that they do get a lot of coverage! A local paper is great if you want to know the ins and outs of what going on in your area. Major planning applications are advertised in here so you will be sure to find out if a nice housing development is about to pop up in the field that you have been overlooking for the past 20 years. Road works are also advertised so you know what roads to avoid on your way to work. There are of course the standard extra supplements that you seem to get with what ever newspaper you read. On Thursday is the car guide. In this you have the usual cars for sale, local dealers and of course cars that have been tested out. Also issued on a Thursday is the "Whats On" guide. This is my favourite supplement and it gives details of events that are happening in the local area, a theatre guide, a cinema guide as well a TV guide for the following week. On Friday comes the
housebuyers guide which is packed full of houses for sale and rent and of course adverts for your local estate agents. The Kent Today is actually delivered free of charge which is a brialliant idea. It gives the local teenagers some extra money (yes I was one of those teenagers!) as well as saving me walking up the shop with two kids in tow! The Kent Today is defiently my choice of paper as it tells the news as it is and tells me whats happening....good or bad.....in my area.
