Advantages: Common sense advice, Its for real people

Disadvantages: Embarassing cover

The ops so far have it covered pretty well, so i wont go into details of the magazine in general, just a personal perspective.

Ive been aware of the magazine for ages and figured it was for pinhead body builders.

In January I started a new fitness regime. Or rather I started a fitness regime. It wasnt new because there wasnt an old one!

Anyway, its been going rather well, and I have achieved my aim of toning the muscles I had, finding a few new ones, and becoming generally fitter.

But what I need is some advice on fine tuning my exercises, and getting the best out of my limited fitness time.

No-one I know is into any sort of exercise, so I realised I needed a book or magazine or something.

So I had a flick through men health while in London - I didnt want to be seen doing it in Oxford. I think I would be less embarassed reading Mayfair!

You see, the trouble is that its cover has a genetically perfect male on it, with sunbed tan and washboard stomach. And it says things like "Build massive biceps in one week". Clearly its not going to happen, and clearly the average reader doesnt look like that... and never will.

I think they do that stuff on the cover because they feel they ought to, because once you get inside its very sensible.

There are great exercise and diet tips, and plenty of other lifestyle articles. It accepts that some people only want to do a few minutes a day, and it avoids being laddish. In short, its the training buddy I have needed for months.

I did eventually buy a copy, and will be taking out a subscription. I just need to check that its delivered in a plain cover!
