Advantages: Lots of articles, Interesting and fair reviews.
Disadvantages: Monthly so some news may not be included.
Metal Hammer is a magazine about Rock/Metal music. The first issue was for sale in 1986. I would say that it is aimed at older teenagers and adults because of the language used in it.
It is available monthly and costs £3.99. Some months they add an extra item with the magazine and charge an extra pound or you can buy it at the normal price without the item. Examples of the extras they add are a festival survival kit or a metal sleeve. Each magazine comes with a free CD and sometimes stickers/sticker book or a badge.
There are around 130 pages inside the magazine including band features, live music reviews, album reviews, readers letters, interviews etc. There a quite a few pages that list gigs that are coming up soon.
The magazine is very interesting to read and contains a lot of information. As well as featuring mainstream bands it also introduces you to new bands. I really enjoy reading it because it is about a type of music I like and so I am interested in reading most articles.
I think it is the best out of all the music magazines I have read. It is presented well. It is printed on glossy pages and has a glossy cover.
In each issue there is a chance to subscribe to the magazine which lets you save 25% off the shop price and the first few people to sign up receive free gifts.
Summary: Metal Hammer - The best magazine for fans of Rock music.
