Advantages: Free CD with each issue, Loads of features, Money off vouchers
Disadvantages: No pull out posters
Metalhammer is a monthly release magazine for all metalheads. It usually comes out near the end of the month at priced £3.10. Definitely worth the cost with a free CD with each issue. It has the usual layout of a magazine. A news section at the front showing the latest gossip in the rock industry. The main part of the magazine which takes up most of the pages is the interviews with bands, and at the back there are reviews of music and other things. There is the ‘Shut It’ page where readers of the magazine can voice their opinions on bands and also a pen bangers section for people wanting to write to other people who are into similar music. The back section of this magazine has the reviews on albums, live gigs and tours, computer games and videos, it also includes many ads from mail order companies who supply rare music, T-shirts, jewellery, videos and posters. The back page has £2 off vouchers on newly released albums. Something that I did notice with this album is that it has a lot of ads promoting singles, albums and tours all through the magazine. The free CD in each issue is well worth the money that your paying as they usually contain at least ten tracks and a CD-ROM section with links to band sites and downloads, a normal CD with this amount of tracks on are usually price over £10. Overall a good quality magazine with good interviews and decent pictures, slightly better than kerrang due to the free CD and overall price, but does lack pullout posters that I usually see in many magazines
