A good read! (Metro)

I do not often travel by train - maybe only a few times a month for work. However when I do travel by train one of the only things I look forward to is picking up my free copy of The Metro.

This newspaper is excellent. The fact that it is available daily and is free makes people much more likely to pick one up - if I was a company looking for somewhere to advertise it is certainly a paper that I would consider. Each time I travel I see lots of people reading this paper and there is such consideration by people leaving it behind them on the train for the next peson to peruse and while away some time with!

The are various sections within the paper on a daily basis, such local info as 'whats on' and restaurant reviews. As a 'country bumpkin' of sorts I will turn to The Metro if I need to find a restuarant to visit - and in fact I have done so in the past quite frequently.

I find that they do not display such an obvious slant as you often get with the big daily redtops and they appear to be refreshingly honest in their views.

One of the best bits within the paper is the Metromail. This is such a funny read! There is a loyal bunch of people who seem to write or email in on a regular basis and you can often find people laughing out loud on the train as they read this section.

All in all a good read for (largely) unbiased views with some refreshingly honest opinions. The only downside which I can think of is if you do not catch an early enough train there is none left. Then you are entirely reliant upon the kind people who leave their's behind when they are finished with it!
