Advantages: FREE Well Informed Daily News

Disadvantages: Can keep you on the bus or train and make you forget when to get off

I love the word “FREE” - it is definitely, and categorically, the most Beautiful word in the English Language.

When this Beautiful word is linked to the words ’Daily’ and ‘Newspaper’ - Then you have my absolute, unswerving and - undivided attention.

I still remember that happy day when myself and good lady jumped on a bus going into Glasgow Town and noticed something different, everyone had their faces 'stuck' in a newspaper. Whit !!

Now - where we live and get on the bus,
no-one can afford a newspaper, that was why we noticed the difference.

Then we noticed that there was a wee rack on the bus, still half full of Metros, saying
‘Help Yourself’ -- Needless to say, we did, and have been avid readers of this fine
FREE - (I love that word- 'free' mmm xxxxx ) newspaper ever since.

The first thing you notice about the Metro, is that the otherwise ’bad’ news doesn’t seem so bad, because you are not paying to read it !

The next thing you notice is that the physical size of the newspaper is not too large, and difficult to handle like the ‘Herald’ is, and two people can easily read their Metro’s sitting side by side on the bus.

The overall layout is excellent and usually goes on to cover the latest political news and items of recent interest, rather similar to the Glasgow Daily Record.

One unusual feature is that it generally, seems to be 'well up' on Computer related items, which I personally find to be very useful and of good interest !

O.K. There are quite a lot of adverts, but then that is what is paying for the superb daily distribution and manufacture of this wee 'gem' of a newspaper.

There is always a section on ‘Metro Life’ where ‘what’s on’ and the daily TV programmes are covered, and there are different
216;themes’ each day, covering Cars, Jobs etc.

There is always a very up to date and in my opinion, very well informed ‘Business section’ just before the Sports pages, and a crossword which you can doo while you are waiting for the change of bus driver who never arrives on the same day as the bus does !! - A feature which happens all too often in Glasgow !!

We used to spend a small fortune
( average £1 ) during a normal week on daily news papers before M.A.D. -- Metro Arrival Day, and reckon we have saved enough now to go for a trip down 'South' where our good friend cpf1993 lives.

We could, with the savings, afford a subway journey to Govan where the famous Glasgow sage, Rab C Nesbitt lives :-)

The only fault that the Metro has is that it is not published On Saturday or Sunday but we are 'lobbydossering' ourlocal MP , and will soon have that changed to 7/7.
We commend the METRO -- ---

Magic Everyday Terrific Reading Overall.

Yeah I agree love this to. Only gripe I have is it is often yesterday's yesterdays news if you no what I mean, however, it is totally intersting!!
