Advantages: only £1-10, compare prices, free adverts, good reviews and guides, good readers letters section
Disadvantages: If your not into that sort of thing there is rather a lot of adverts.
This is a really good magazine. It consists of mainly adverts with a fair few artcles in testing recently released products. The good thing about this from the point of view as a trader is that I can see what other traders are charging. You can almost guarantee that whatever your looking for will be cheaper off a retailer in Micro Computer Mart than in any other magazine or publication. You don't see the Times and Tinys and PCWorlds advertising in this magazine. It is mainly made up of small and medium sized businesses and trust me theres one or 2 firms in there that are scandalously cheap. You shouldn't let the cheapness cause you any concern. I have bought no end of things out of MCM and I have on the whole received good service and fully working goods. Anything that hasn't worked has been replaced fairly although I must admit that Eclipse Computers who advertise take a month to test the item and then a month to re-send you a new one. And that was me sending back something that was working but was the wrong thing!!! These aren't the greatest for technical support. The magazine is also made up of many many private adverts too. Private adverts are free of charge upto 30 words and this is a very nice reward for spending your £1-10 on the magazine. There are always a number of very well written articles towards the back of the magazine detailing latest games reviews, scanners, printers, motherboards and so on along with very good guides on upgrading your computer and things along a similar scope. That's not forgetting the readers letters. I really enjoy this section as it is people asking for advice, help and also making recommendations. You can learn a lot from just reading this section. This is the number 1 magazine of it's type and I make an effort to get the magazine every couple of weeks although it is out weekly in newsagents. New editions are available on Thursdays.
