Advantages: caters for all dance genres
I came across MixMag whilst in my first year at University. I was never really in to dance music that much till then but got in to a lot of House, Fidget, and Dub step music whilst there so I decided to buy this magazine as seemed to cater for that sort of music (as well as a lot of other sub genres for dance music).
The Magazine is easy to distinguish, it has 'MIXMAG' printed across the top of the magazine in big letters and it stands out. It is usually the most colourful magazine on the shelf also. Most weeks it features a free CD on the front for the buyer to enjoy. This is usually a mix of songs mixed by their selected DJ that week. In the past I have had soulwax, Annie Mac and various others.
At roughly £4.20 this magazine is quite pricey, but luckily its only out once a month so its not as if I have to pay that every week, else I'd rack up quite a bill!
The magazine has many features. It has a monthly download section, where they suggest about 20 tracks from each sub genre of dance music, I find this very useful and often find some great new tracks from it. There are also articles on different DJ's, events happening in the month and also recommendations for different pieces of DJ equipment and festivals.
Usually there is a lot of advertising of UK and European festivals which I find interesting as I like to go to some of them and this helps me to decide.
Overall, I find this magazine interesting, but its definitely not for everyone.
Summary: Not for everyone
