Autosport ... of the newer motorsport magazines tend to be dominated by Formula 1 with perhaps a small amount of coverage of the World Rally Championship or the American ChampCar series. Indeed some now even appear to exploit the high profile of F1 and treat the sport as some sort of 4-wheeled soap opera. Autosport is a long established motor sport title and is extremely thorough in its coverage of all levels of motor sport in Britain. This is not to say Formula 1 is ignored, it certainly is not. Autocar ... much of the 20th century the buyer of a motoring magazine in the UK had a choice of just two weekly titles - Autocar and Motor. In the 1980s the two titles merged to become Autocar and Motor before the single word title - Autocar was chosen to be used again. Whilst many things have changed and motoring magazines are now very plentiful and cater for many niches within the general motoring genre the Autocar is maintaining its appeal through these more competitive times. Auto Express ... Express has been going for over 10 years now. It was launched as a budget competitor to Autocar and though it still undercuts its old adversary by 50p or so that is hardly a killer saving. Like Autocar it is published weekly and similarly offers the reader a diet of road tests and motoring news and opinion. However whereas the Autocar relies on its authoritative stature Auto Express projects itself as a more vibrant younger magazine. Auto Express tends to use a lot of shorter snippets of items many articles being of less than 200 words.
