Advantages: High quality writing and photography,Excellent product reviews.
Disadvantages: Only out monthly.
It’s no wonder that Mountain Biking UK is the best selling cycling magazine in Britain. Packed full of interesting features, reviews, workshops and much more. Priced at £3.30 it may seem expensive compared to other monthly cycling magazines, but if you compare the content, then MBUK comes out the winner. The product reviews are written by an expert team of cycling journalists with years of experience between them. Everything from handlebar grips to full bikes are reviewed and “wreckermended”. There are loads of products reviewed in each issue, usually a group test of products is included as well as a test of full bikes, usually by price point or riding style. These bike tests are excellent, in-depth reviews matched up with quality pictures of the bikes on test. If it’s impartial reviews that you are after then this is the place to find them. The way the tests are put together is also an excellent feature for the average mountain biker. By group testing bikes the way they do gives an excellent opportunity to compare the bikes on test like for like. And unlike other cycling mags the bikes on test are not all pro level bits of kit but from every price point, giving the reader the best overview of the bikes available. Also included in every issue is a workshop guide explaining complex upgrades and repairs right down to the simplest of jobs. But the best part of Mountain Biking UK is it’s feature articles, that cover everything from cycling related travel, competition and events right down to the weirder side of cycling like underwater mountain biking! The features are excellently written and are mated with high quality photography. It’s easy to tell that all the staff writers on the magazine all love cycling by the features that they write. Another great advantage of being Britain's best selling cycling magazine is their ability to get top pro riders and industry insiders
to pen to paper one of whom is Great Britain's very own Steve Peat who last year was World number two Downhill rider. Not only is the magazine packed full of features and reviews, but they also find room to fit in dedicated sections for the separate disciplines of the sport, whether you be interested in Downhill, Cross Country, Trials, Trailquest, or just mucking about with your mates. The reason why I think this magazine is so entertaining is that it just doesn’t take itself seriously.Adding an all important bit of humour .This is why, in my opinion, that no matter what your age or type of riding you do, MBUK is the best mag out there for us mountain bikers.
