Advantages: Good for Techy stuff & Bedroom DJs

Disadvantages: Skinny articles make it a light read

Muzik was always playing catchup with Mixmag when it was first launched with all clubbers recognising the big M as the essential guide to clubbing. However Muzik has gained a segment of readers who appreciate the technicalities of DJing with a comphrehensive singles guide, highlighting up & coming labels, The EQ section that reviews DJ equipment and it's support for bedroom DJs, welcoming mix tapes for a passport to DJ stardom which has catapulted those into the superclub dreamworld.

The recent issue would have been ignored if not for the excellent free CD offered. Slam deliver a great mix of Soma (their own label) brilliance from moody Tech-house to latin influenced tough house.

But it was the main stories that let the side down leaving it to limp behind the other clubber mags with uninspiring articles. With other magazines scooping exclusive stories such as Daft Punk, Muzik's main article was about the future of clubbing which tried to explore the impact of technology. Perhaps it was aimed at the wannabe, younger reader who is yet to be legal to enter clubs and buy Sky for their sex and gossip fix.

Overall - avoid unless you appreciate simple content and old news.
