N.I. is a magazine which reports on issues of injustice and inequality throughout the world. It's topics are diverse and open the reader to a wide range of opinions and ideas. Recent themes have included Slavery, Debt, Global Resistance, dams, aid in Bangladesh and fiction from the South. The magazine aims to see things from the perspective of the majority world, and to give a voice to people who are often voiceless. In every magazine there is an action page and the hope of the editors is not only to inform and inspire readers but also to challenge people to take action; writing to M.P.s, campaigning, making lifestyle changes etc. in order to bring about a more just and equal society throughout the world. There are other regular features including a 'currents' section; updating on current issues, a cartoon, crossword and letters page and 'Worldbeaters'; a profile on a world figure (usually someone exploitative or oppressive). N.I. is an excellent read. It informs me, keeps my mind open, challenges my thinking, shapes my lifestyle, inspires me, often depresses me, yet offers hope of a better world and better ways of doing things. I started reading this magazine, about 15 years ago when advised to by my R.E. teacher. It was an inspiring magazine then and is even more so now. Not convinced? You can also read back-copies on-line.
