Digging into the pile of magazines I bought the previous week, I fumbled across a copy of New! Magazine, this one dated December 2008. I had initially bought the magazine because of the cover stories; news of celebrity 'bumps', and an article about Jade Goody. I could only hope the rest of the articles seemed as promising inside, as this was the first time I had bought a copy of New!
After you turn over from the attractive pink cover, you come to the usual contents page you find in a magazine. Usually I skim read this, though as I had not read New before, I decided I'd not bother this time and find surprise in the extra features I hoped to find within.
The next few pages contained images and little facts about celebrity gossip and fashion in general. Usually these celebs don't interest me, though on finding Myleene Klass here, I decided to give it a read. The pages following were about X Factor winner Alexandra, and her mentor Cheryl. It was only now that I realised that Cheryl was the winning judge, which did put a smile across my face!
The next few pages came from the cover story. Is Katie Price pregnant again?! The article about broody Cheryl Cole was quite an interesting read, but I am do feel she should get her body back in tact before trying, as it could seriously affect the child! Saying that, it could do wonders for her! It was great to hear Kim Ryder is expecting too!
After flicking through some ads and general celebrity gossip, I enjoyed reading about Joe Swash (I never knew he won Im A Celeb...!), and his relationship with ex-co star Kara Tointon. It's always good to see a relationship spark from shows (apart from the David Tennant/Georgia Moffett relationship - that's just weird!).
Passing through a few more celeb pages and real life stories, there was the Jade Goody article, which was an interesting read. I couldn't believe how big her two boys have got when I saw a picture of the family together.
There is also a section called Festive Hunks, which is self explanatory! In my opinion though, they're not very hunky! After this quite disappointing section, there is a section dedicated to readers' letters. I don't really enjoy these pages much, so I flicked past this and the following article about Peter Andre, which was quite long!
There was an even longer article about actress Roxanne McKee, and afterwards, pages upon pages of fashion and style! Alex Gerrard also writes a column, and although I don't really know much about her, I always find myself reading these sections of magazines as it is always interesting to get an incite into another's views of recent gossip!
There was quite an emotional article with Fiona Phillips - I never knew she was leaving GMTV! Although it may be for good reasons, I'm sure she will be missed! Following this was quite an interesting feature, called "A day in the diet of..." and this week featured Carley Stenson. I never knew who she was, but read that she stars in Hollyoaks. I actually love these sections in magazines to see what celebs eat, however I do feel they may often bend the truth here!
There were a few more pages of real life news, before I came to the interesting TV listing section! This went right through to New Year, and I love circling all the shows over the festive period I would love to watch, and trying to timetable them all in without anything clashing! As always, this is never an easy job!
After the horoscopes, there is the usual section at the back of magazines dedicated to one celebrity. In this issue, the section was called Favourite Things, and featured Joanna Page. I always enjoy reading these, even if the celebrity means nothing to me!
Turning the page again, you have reached the end of the magazine. And did I enjoy my read? That''s quite a tough question! There were some good articles spread across the 98 page magazine, though there was an awful lot of pages which I didn't care for. In honestly,it was an okay read but I would not buy it myself again. However I would recommend you could try it, as it costs just 99p.
