Advantages: CHEAP AS CHIPS

Disadvantages: CAN BE A BIT TRASHY

I buy a magazine at least once a fortnight and go through phases regarding which one(s) I buy more frequently than others, depending what mood I'm in.

New magazine is one that I go back to time and time again, I think mainly because for such a competitive price (85p at present) you get a lot of different 'elements' to the magazine, and there is enough reading in it to keep me entertained for a reasonable amount of time, in comparison to other magazines that seem thick and full of articles to read but in fact, are largely made up with either full-spread advertisements or those rather annoying pictures of celebs who have been 'papped' which take up either a full page, or in most cases a double page spread, with perhaps only three paragraphs of reading down the side of the picture.

New magazine not only gives me my weekly (or fortnightly) fill of celebrity gossip, but it has most of the things that we look for in a glossy mag, for example, horoscopes, film reviews, television and soap opera updates, real life stories and drama, competitions, diet and beauty articles, reader letter pages and problem pages with agony aunts (some of who are celebrities).

I'm not claiming for a second that it is the most well-written, intellectual piece of journalism to adorn our shop shelves in recent times, (in fact at times it can be almost 'trashy') but I have to admit to being a bit nosy when it comes to reading up on what those celebs have been up to!

I'm a huge believer in that old saying "you get what you pay for..." and lets be honest, for less than a quid, if you can get some light enjoyment from it, then it's worth every penny, for me at least.

Summary: Celeb gossip and other entertaining reading for under a pound!
