There seems to be a real influx of new celeb/gossip magazines appearing on the newagents shelves these days. Each trying to wrestle away the crown from the the once mighty Heat. While I would flick through Heat if someone I knew had bought it I wouldn'y actually go out and buy it, as I think the price is too steep for a trashy mag.

I bought New magazine for the first time last month at a motorway service station in the middle of a long and boring car journey. I was intrigued because it was just after Katie/Jordan & Peter had split and I could see on the cover that Pete wrote a column for the magazine. The price of 85p was also really appealing and it didn't seem a wrench to splash out less than a pound for some brain dumbing gossip. I flicked through not really expecting all that much but was actually really pleasantly suprised, it contained everthing I wanted it to, perfect trashy mag material. There was a lot of celeb goss, some fashion, a couple of interviews, a couple of real life stories and the whole thing seemed really bang up to date. It also didn't contain endless pointless celeb photo pages which really used to grate on me in Heat magazine.

I also enjoy the celebrity column - Peter Andre, Kate Garraway and to lesser extent Alex Curren (Stevie Gerrards wife) Peter's in particular makes a good read at the moment.

For me, New magazine is perfect relax reading, it allows me to completely switch off for an hour and i love curling up on the sofa with the telly on and completely relaxing. Ok it's not going to my brain any good but if your after a celeb trash mag it's well worth it's 85p

Summary: Great value celeb mag
