For Gossip on Celebs and not so celebs! (New! Magazine)

Advantages: Good to flick through, cheap

New! Magazine is a celebrity magazine along similar lines to Heat which is a much better known magazine. I'm not actually sure how new New! is, its probably been around for a long time but I only came across it very recently. Now I have to say that I don't normally buy celebrity magazines, the only time I ever really read them is if someone brings one in to the staffroom at work or if I am sitting in the doctors waiting room and trying to pass the time. However recently I have been off work after having surgery and a friend from work popped round with some magazines for me to read.

The New! magazine retails for 85p but if you buy the special OK! Pack you can get the OK! and several other magazines including New! for a lower price (not sure what this is as my friend had bought me).

The first thing that strikes me about this magazine when you compare it to the likes of Ok! is that it is not as classy as Ok! Now I know many of you will say that OK! is not very classy but relatively speaking compared to New! it is. The magazine is smaller and less glossy than the OK! magazine but then again it is a lot cheaper.


The magazine is produced weekly. On the front cover there are pictures of some celebrities (and some not so celebrities) and some headlines designed to catch your eye and make you want to buy. On the front cover of the edition I have which is for November 2nd there is Stacey from X-Factor, Ricky Whittle from Strictly Come Dancing and oh what a surprise its Peter and Katie!!

Inside the magazine there are lots of photos and some stories. You don't get any of the nice photo shoots that you get in the Ok! magazine which I do like. However for those of you who like some celeb gossip there is plenty of that along with some interviews. There are various photos of celebs out and about and comments on what they are wearing. There are a few pages of true stories, with things that have happened to "real" people and some pages of beauty and fashion.

Personally this magazine isn't for me and I wouldn't go out and buy it for myself even if it is only 85p. Its good to flick through but personally I like a magazine with something in it to read and tend to buy magazines like Red or Glamour that have better articles and more in-depth interviews with people. For me New! would stay on the shelf but for those who like gossip about B and C list celebs then New! might just be for you!
