Advantages: Reasonable subscription costs; 'free' book; interesting contents
Disadvantages: None
I only came across this magazine a couple of months ago. It advertises itself as "The Magazine for readers and reading groups" and I have to agree with them.
This magazine is published every two months and contains plenty of information, including:
* author interviews
* articles on or written by selected authors
* selected book extracts from 5 latest recommendations
* book reviews from readers
There is also the opportunity to claim a 'free' book with each issue from a selected list, and all you have to pay is the postage and packaging at £2.95. There is no obligation to get one of these books, but the option is there if you want to take it.
Subscription to the magazine I think is relatively cheap at £19.20 per annum in the U.K. (international fees vary) and entitles you to six issues per year and an immediate free book of your choice (from selected titles). Subscription can be online or posted. A form can be found in one of the magazines, but I actually obtained a form through some junk mail! You obviously can pay by cheque, but when online, there is also the option of credit/debit card or PayPal.
What I do like about this subscription process is that you can send a friend - or request for yourself - a free copy of the magazine to see what it is like. I also know that it is a regular item in many public libraries, so that is also an option to explore.
I think it is a lovely magazine and will remain subscribed so long as fees are reaonable. Recommended!
Summary: A subscribed magazine which contains information for readers and reading groups.
