Advantages: Great way to catch up on the latest celebrity gossip.
Disadvantages: Not as serious as other papers.
I wrote in a recent review that the newspaper I read during the week is The Sun and as with probably most Sun readers on a Sunday I will read the News of the World. I know a lot of people will criticise my choice of Sunday Newspaper but I really enjoy reading it. Yes it is mainly full of scandal and the latest stories about the current celebrities but I think it is nice to have a newspaper to read that has interesting stories in it. News doesn't always have to mean politics and war.
News of the World costs £1 which seems to have gone up a bit lately but still worth it. For your pound you get a newspaper which contains about 100 pages and a free magazine called Fabulous. I think the magazine is great and it is just a smaller version of the women's magazines that you pay £1 plus for in the shops. A glossy magazine, that has television listings in is worth a pound itself.
News of the World prides itself on exposing scandals. Every week there is a shocking scandal on the front pages of the paper. They must spend a fortune on getting people to work undercover and get those all important pictures. Its usually somebody taking drugs or using prostitutes, really sleazy stuff. This week for example the latest exposure is Chelsea footballer John Terry's dad is a drug dealer.
The paper also feature quite heavily on celebities, they often get to interview celebrities and get all of the exclusive stories. The likes of Katie Price and Kerry Katona are regulars in the paper. The paper also covers shows like The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, giving all the latest gossip on the stars of these shows. As somebody who watches these shows and takes an interest in celebs this is what I like about this paper.
There are regular features in the paper, Carole Malone always has something to say on the page she writes. Dan Wootten has a double page spread called Celeb XS which is in the paper every week. Martin Lewis our favourite money saving expert also writes a page for this paper, offering his latest tips. The latest soap gossip is also great for us soap fans but I don't like to read Ian Hylands criticism of television programs because I normally like what he criticises.
The two parts of the paper I don't tend to read are the sports page and the Rated section. Sports I am not really interested in and the Rated section covers gadgets, gardening, motors, travel and other things. I read the paper more for the news and gossip.
One thing that does bug me about this newspaper is the amount of adverts there is. The paper must rake in a fortune from advertisements because they are on every page.
Overall I think this paper is great, it may not be everyone's cup of tea but personally I prefer to read a paper that is full of pictures and gossip than one that is pages and pages of irrelevant writing. It may be scandalous and sleazy but I like it.
Summary: I'm probably the only peron that has given this paper 5 stars
