Advantages: Local paper will lots of interesting features for local people.

Disadvantages: Sometimes it can be expensive if it is a small edition.

The Herald Express - The Voice of Torbay

This is a great local paper, it costs 37p and is published six days per week, Monday to Saturday. It covers a large area of South Devon, primarily Torbay but also Teignbridge and the South Hams.

It carries all the topics you would expect in a local paper; stories from local schools, topical news e.g. the effects of the current economic situation, classified ads etc.

There are regular features on certain days, on Tuesdays there is a section called "Bygones" which uses archive photographs and stories from all eras of the 20th century. Tuesdays also has a supplement on property rentals but property sales are on Fridays.

If you have lived in Torbay for any time you will almost certainly see people you know on a regular basis which gives it a really nice community feel. It also offers work experience to local school pupils and it is a popular choice and there is normally strong competition for places.

The Herald runs many competitions and offers and you can also access it online.

Summary: Long may it continue.
