Pretentious and too slick for it's own good (Nova)
Name: welsh_sheep
Advantages: Free gifts! hurrah! Disadvantages: far too slick, moody and lacklustre
I first picked up this mag a few weeks ago, purely because I was tempted by the free vest on the front. I started reading with anticipation of it being a little gem but ended up throwing it on the floor in frustration. Although some of the articles are fairly entertaining and informative, I found that a lot of it's content was trying to be too "cool" and slick. It aims for aesthetic quality rather than meaty content, falling into the trap that many glossies have done previously. I didn't reach the end of Nova because I was bored. Bored of the whole 'luvvy' scene and the minimalist layout. Nothing really grabbed me at all about this magazine (except the free vest...). Summary: |
