The best magazine ever.

Advantages: pretty and original
Disadvantages: too small
Nylon is the best magazine ever. Period. This magazine breaks the mould of traditional fashion magazines such as Vanity Fair and Vogue to provide an interesting, original and intelligent take on fashion, with a heady mix of music, film and travel thrown in.
Advantages: Nylon always presents celebrities in a different way to other mags (previous cover stars include Mischa Barton, The White Stripes, Ashley Olsen and Christina Ricci). The stars are always made up in photos that have an interesting composition, and the interviews are never wholesale adorations of the celebrity like usual (in particular check out the scathing review on Lindsay Lohan). There is a strong DIY ethic to the magazine, and it always appears homegrown. It features a lot of upcoming bands - the kind you'll be loving about a year later and will remember this is where you heard about them, and indie flicks rather than your mainstream rubbish. My favourite section of the magazine is its 'behind-the-scenes' features. It takes a look at the making process behind fashion items such as MAC make-up and Burberry bags, which is interesting and original. The great thing about Nylon is that it never dumbs-down for its readers - it is not the sort of mag that will give you tips on dieting or tell you how to flirt - it is for people who already know who they are.
Disadvantages: Nylon is pretty expensive, for £3.95 it is more expensive than the majority of glossies and is about half the size. Added to this the extreme amount of adverts, and you don't always feel like you're getting your moneys worth.
Summary: a great magazine for indie fashion lovers
