Advantages: Nice Pictures , A Un-Intentional Laugh

Disadvantages: Naff, Lame Articles, Scrapes The Barrel

Somethings in the world just seem to fit perfectly. There's bread and butter, Ozzy Osbourne and MTV and who could forget the classic chalk and cheese. The same could be said for minor celebrities and OK Magazine.

Is there a difference between OK and Hello magazine? If there is then could someone please tell me what it is. Both of them use the same kind of fonts, layout and have the same kind of content, yet both of them co-exist is the same universe. That's a pity as the world would be a better place without them.

OK Magazine is frankly nothing more than a good laugh. What it does is give some people the opporutnity to exploit their celebrity and fawn in glossy pictures. That's because apparantly the general public are completely interested in them and their lives. Nothing could be further from the truth in my mind.

The magazine scrapes the barrel for content on so many occasions. Recently Big Brother has given them ample opportunity to fill some pages. I was dying to read the exclusive with Jade's friend. yes that's right Jade's friend, someone off the street and that isn't famous in any way. In a way it's the same as you or I getting a 4 page spread complete with cheesy photographs purely because we shook a celebritys hand once or at one time went to school with them.

The biggest laugh I've had out of the magazine recently was a piece on magazine whores The Beckhams. Apparantly alone they were fashion icons but together they sparked the trend that so many others followed. Sadly I didn't get my free sick bag with the issue and I was in desparate need of it. It also seems the magazine was struggling as it was the kind of fluff piece that required no input from the subjects themselves. It was merely some loose words hung aournd a lot of pictures of the Beckhams fashion howlers.

I suppose you could say that the magazine is good value for a couple of quid. However it won't teach
you anything or give you any inique outlook on the world. Yes the pictures are nice but at the end of the day the people who appear in the magazine have enough cash anyway, please let's not give them anymore.

Absolutely, can't stand these mags and the way they fawn over third rate celebs.

You summed it up perfectly by saying it's a good laugh. One point though you write that it doesn't "teach you anything or give you any unique outlook on the world". I don't think magazines have to necessarily do this, it's nice to slob out and not think too deep occasionally.

Haha! It's so terrible! I personally can't wait until an old school friend goes on reality tv and I can sell the loosely fact-based story to one of these mags and buy me a swank car with the cash!
