We have got a sierra cosworth for sale and couldn't decide which magazine would be the best one to advertise it in. After a long debate we decided to go for Exchange and Mart.
It seemed like the best one at the time with lots to offer. I checked out their internet site and found it very easy to find my way around which was one of the reasons we finally chose this particular magazine.
I read through the terms and conditions of making a sale and opted to put the car on a hold til sold advertisment scheme.
This meant that until the car had sold it would appear in every issue and on the internet site. This cost £89 to do this which we thought was quite alot of money but we wanted to sell it so we paid it.
It said on their site that we could place our advert over the internet which was ideal. We wanted a photo of our our car to appear with the text but the way the terms and conditions read it was as if £89 included a photo. Later on after paying the money which we were told was non-refundable even if the advert hadn't been published (what a con!) we discovered that this money didn't include a photo.
I phoned Exchange and Mart the next day and explained the situation and the fact that we wanted a photo aswell as text. I told them the way the site had worded this particular way of advertising said that the price included a photo , to which they agreed but said that they couldn't refund me the money.
The only way to get a photo was to pay another £69 on top of what we had already paid. What a rip-off there was no way we were doing that. I had a huge row and still got nowhere with them.
I phoned them for the following 3 days and they finally backed down and agreed to put a photo with the advert for no extra charge.
About time as it was their fault in the first place , since this incident they have re-worded the way they advertise a hold til sold advertisment to avoid confusion in the future. ( I SHOULD THINK SO TOO )
Any
way we eventually had sorted it out and I was asked to email over a photo of our car . I did this right away so that it was all done and dealt with.
On the thursday when the issue came out with our car in my partner went to the shop to buy it and discovered when looking at our advert that they had used a library photo not our one.
This was the final straw and I got straight back on the phone and went absolutely mental at them. I was told that the photo was sent at the wrong size (pixels) so therefore they could not use it , nice of them to let me know!!!!.
At this point I demanded a refund because I didn't want to advertise with this company as they had caused me nothing but grief from the beginning. They would not ablige so I had no choice but to send the photo again and go ahead with the advert because I wasn't losing £89 because of their incompetence.
When the next issue came out our car featured in it but it shouldn't have taken all that time and all those phone calls for them to get it right.
I will never ever be advertising anything with them again and I suggest to all of you who are considering using them to think twice because they aren't all they are cracked up to be.
I would like to hear from people who have recieved a decent service from them as at the moment I don't believe such a thing exists.
