Time was when I used to buy four or five computer magazines a month, as someone who has only been connected to the internet for about five years computer magazines used to represent the only way I had of finding out computer related information, news or reviews. Now in my mind the internet has done away with the need for most magazines of the computing ilk, who wants to pay £5.99 when the information is available in much more depth and for free (excluding your ISP cost of course) on the internet. Nevertheless, while going about my weekly shop in Tesco I noticed (between the nerds who insists on standing and reading the magazines before putting them back) Personal ... Read the complete review

PCW or to give it its full name Personal Computer World is another PC magazine designed for a predominantly adult market and for people who use their computers in a professional manner. I have been a long time reader and recently went on their readers members panel to comment on the new look issue. The magazine is rather regarded as the computing bible and has been around for eternity. The jury is still out on the new look, but content wise is still similar. Available in a DVD or CD-rom issue, the latter which is cheaper but lacks software. The software can include full blown applications, utilities and other demos and games. Yes it is big and heavy and some may not like the amount of adverts present, but this helps to keep cost down and also provides a source of information too. Content wise is rather ... Personal Computer World is another of the Phone Book school of computer magazines. PCW features a significant number of adverts, although not to the scale of Computer Shopper. As with all the magazines of this type, the adverts are part of the attraction, allowing quick and easy price comparisons with a number of reputable and competitive retailers. The main attraction of the magazine is the mixture of hands-on style articles about programming, hardware, Operating Systems, etc along with well balanced group tests. Also useful are the letters pages which provide a useful selection of solutions to unusual problems. The individual product reviews (as opposed to ... Read the complete review

For my opinion, PcWorld is the best. It’s ok for professional and principiants users. There are technical news hard and easy; articles are good, often short. It’s best for hardware, software and internet. The column most interesting is the mail: there many users that write about pc and internet. When my pc go in crash I know that Pc World will help me. The there are useful news abot new products and new technologies; there are many articles about notebook, but also desktop. About internet there are the security news and other. The most important columns are: - Event. Here there are the most important recent ... Read the complete review
