Advantages: Its cheaper then all other playstation mags

Disadvantages: No playable demos, but has loads of videos to watch.

Thought of doing something a bit different and after reading 2 or 3 mag reviews, I though I do one on my favourite Playstation mag that I buy every month.

== WHAT YOU GET ==

The magazine of course you get which is called PSW (Playstation World), which has the name along the top of the mag with a nice big clear image which draws your attention to it when browsing the selves in your corner shop of a character or a car from one of the main games in the mag of the mouth. There’s also sometimes a few other names and images on the front of other games that are reviewed.

The Dvd Disc that’s comes with it, which can be played through your pc as well. The contents of the Dvd is shown on the case and also in the back of the mag which includes a News section videos of the newly announced games, also a big section of videos to watch under Coming Soon and Out Now menu.

There’s a Bonus section which has 1 or 2 videos of the making of a game or an interview with an actor or developer of a game. Not only will that lot take you sometime the get through, there’s also section of videos for PSP, Playstation 3 and also download able save games for your psp games which has to be access by your Pc.

As this is not an official PS2 mag, it will not contain playable demos but does have way more videos to watch and as result it’s cheaper at the price of £3.99 where as the official mag is about £5.49.

One last thing, which you get with most of its issues, is a free booklet that has a few walkthrough guides of the latest games and also packed with the newest cheats not only for the PS2 but also the PSP.

==CONTENTS OF THE MAG==
The mag starts of with its own contents of the mag with all the reviews, previews and anything else with the page number next to it so you can skip start to that page if there’s something that interests you the most.

-GLOBAL- This is the first section of the mag which has info and news of any latest accessories like PS3, PSP, gamepads, TVs, price drops, new games and at the end of this area there’s a top 10 chart of games that are selling the best at the moment and a five month planner which is the release dates of games, along with psw picks – that are about 5 games the people at psw at looking forward to the most.

-SCREENTEST- The second section is a mix of news and previews; here you find the first images and info of new games that are being made. Along with that, there’s the product info like, the developer, release date, if it’s online and so on. The other thing I find most interesting is “Need To Know” which are a few facts of the game and company like who does the voice acting, when the first ever game was released, companies founded date and games sold.

-PREVIEWS- This section is similar to screentest just that its contents much more info ranging from 2-4, sometimes more pages which has extra info of special features that it has, also a few facts on the game and it’s company. Reading this section gives you a very good idea what’s the games about and what’s involved in the gameplay. The reason you get much more info is that the game magazines get a preview game, which is a version of the game that’s still a working title.

-REVIEWS- Then comes the next section of the reviews; here you find games that are out or a month or so to the release. This section is here to say if any games should be snapped up straight away or turn your head away if it’s on the self of a shop. The review gives you all the necessary info and detail on anything that stands out as being new or just plain amazingly better than any other games out, if it’s the other type of game, they will make sure to get there point across to not waste your money on.

Psw verdict on games are given points out of 10 on graphics, sounds and gameplay, along with a few uppers and downers of the game and to finish it of a score out of 10 and there final comment.

-PSP- This small section is devoted to the psp, where you find the latest news and features of the psp, along with a few reviews and previews, Very helpful for those you have a psp as well.

-LETTERS- Coming near to the end of the mag is the letters from gamers that are sent in by post or email. I find this section one of the first things I read as I find it interesting reading others opinions and as they are short the n don’t drag on, with 3 pages of letters and the one being the letter of the month at the first wins a game that has recently been released.

-GAME BREAKER- & -WORLD OF WEIRD- Here you have 3 pages, nicely laid out with images of some of the newest cheats for the latest games, along with a few more letters that are just asking for cheats, tips, hints on games that gamers are stuck on.
The world of weird section shows images and info of things that you unlock, stuff you can do, things you see, glitches and other things that are very weird and odd, here you also can win a game if you find anything that you send it and if they print it.

-WIN, WIN AND WIN- Nearly at the end of my review and the mag, you have a competition where you can usually win something like a big TV, DVD player and DVD to go with it. To enter this you can go to the web link it tells you or something an email or phone call to win over £1000 worth of stuff.

PSW Challenges are next to that page which gives you a challenge on 3 different games which you must send you enters in by a video or some prove of completion and the winner of the top of the table gets a pad and a game for each of the 3 challenges.

-ESSENTIAL 50- This page gets updated every week if there are any better games released that should be in your top 50 games collection. With the front cover and final score you can turn straight to the page if you missed any issues to see if there’s any must have games. What I also like is it gives me a good feeling once you have counted all the games you have on the top 50 list to see if you made the right decision what to buy.

-NEXT MONTH- The next page of any interested as there are a few ads in the back, is the next issue, here it tells you what’s the next big game feature, what’s in the mag and also in the DVD, finally the must important is the date the next issue is in the shops for sale as you don’t want to miss another mag.

-MY FINAL THOUGH- The reason I like this mag better than any other mag including the official mag is that the reviews are more accurate and the scores are more fair. The laid out is good as you can find what you want easily and has everything in the mag you need, plus there’s the DVD that’s packed full of videos, making the hole package a very good price at £3.99.

----------------------------------
With all of what you get as its cheaper then any other mag, you can see why it has “The UK’s Best-Selling Independent Playstation Mag” at the top of the mag.

Hope you enjoying reading my review on the PSW mag, and think about buying it if you want to catch up with the latest.

Your reviews are really good - you'll find you earn more miles if you spend time rating other people's reviews, most of your reviews have only had about 20 reads whereas you could get about 40 or 50 if you return rates from people - hope that helps a bit. Sam
