Advantages: Loads of ideas to get you writing.
Disadvantages: Payment can be a bit slow.
I subscribe to several poetry magazine, but Poetry Now (ISSN 0969-4005) is undoubtedly my favourite. It is well produced, reasonably priced, enjoyable to read and pays for all material with a free copy of the magazine PLUS either cash or a recent Poetry Now anthology. The magazine is a quarterly production (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter), and has a wealth of information for writers, from articles to competitions to details of writer's groups. If you are suffering from writers block, or even if you just enjoy challenges, Poetry Now has all these different things to get your creative juices flowing; Themed Poetry (3 or 4 different themes each issue), £5 for each one published, Portraits in Verse, write a poem inspired by a photo, £5 for each one published, Editor's Choice, any subject or form, £10 for each one published Humour In Verse, funny poems, £5 for each one published Articles of interest to poets, £5 per 500 words In My View, opinions on poets and poetry, anthology for each one published Workshop, poetry, discussion and debate, anthology for each one published Letters to the editor, anthology for each one published Following In The Footsteps, complete a famous person's poem from the first stanza provided, anthology for each one published Two by Two, comments on two poems from a previous issue £5 for each one published Also a poet contact page and Featured Poet.
