Advantages: Informative, lots of relevant articles and mum's opinions and experiences
Disadvantages: Can be repetitive
I don't usually buy magazines because I think they are over-priced and a waste of money for what they are - too much advertising and not enough research... BUT... I really do like this magazine.
When I found out I was pregnant my husband and I went on a serious number of holidays - we were in panic mode about losing our life! My husband likes to treat me to trashy reading material whenever we go abroad, as a treat because usually I am so anti-magazines because they are expensive (having said that, I always read them if they are left on the train!!) Usually he gets Heat or Hello but since I was pregnant, I am just a living, breathing baby-making machine so everything he gets me if pregnancy-related! Anyway, I digress into a moan!
I loved the magazine the first time I read it because it is so much more up-to-date than books you can get. I never know if I am reading the latest news in them or not, or even if the advice if relevant to the UK or USA. But this magazine has absolutely up to the minute information about pregnancy. the articles seem well-researched and I found all of them relevant and fascinating.
It's good to read about other mums' experiences. There are letters and case studies. It really is a varied read.
On the downside - there can be a tabloid-tone to some of the headline articles - always dwelling on what could go wrong or amazing stories about women giving birth in car parks. I guess an ordinary 5 hour labour followed by a natural birth doesn't make for an interesting read but it sure would be reassuring for me!!
Also, like I said, we had a spell of going on lots of holidays and so I went through a lot of these magazines. They could be repetitive at times and so I'm not sure I would want to buy one each month.
Overall though a really good read. Everything you want to know when you're pregnant.
Summary: Great for pregnant women. I loved this magazine!
