This official, monthly publication from the Royal Chartered British Psychological Society is an excellent, first-class magazine offering an excellent and well-informed read.

The in-depth and highly informative, thought-provoking articles cover a wide range of subjects, which have included:

Intelligence and sex differences.
Computers and individual creativity.
Amygdala, emotion and learning.
Short term memory and serial order.
ADHD.
Depression and its relationship to Suicide.
Alzeimers and drug therapy.

Special issues are made on particular issues of interest and recent ones have been:

Freud revisited in terms of:

Transference, unconscious, freudian slips, defence mechanisms, repression, his dream theory in current contexts and psychoanalysis in its future domain.

Clinical neuropsychology:

Addressing what actually takes place at a centre.

The rehabiliation centres and their role.

The social issues surrounded those brain-injured.

The relevance of child neuropsychology.

In addition to these articles and special issues thre is a plethera of interesting, useful and informative material within:

1. News items: which address curent issues i.e. The Mental Health Act statistics, Gambling Law reform, Psychology in Albania etc.

2.The Letter Section, where readers are able to write in with views to the Editor, resulting in some fiesty debate and argument.

3.The Research Section examines current research programmes and the implications of the findings, recent areas have included:
How successful are cyberstudents?, Meaning of christmas gifts, Left-handedness and longevity.

4.The Students section exists to look at aspects of student life relative to psychology under-graduates and post graduates giving informative ideas and constructive help.

In addition there is always a good selection of advertising features de
tailing courses available across the country from full-time to part time and distance study.

The magazine itself is accompanied by a memorandum booklet of vacancies within the field of psychology, again this covers the whole of the country and all the different fields.

This magazine is despatched free to members of the British Psychology Scoiety, for non-members the cost is £66 per annum.
The B.P.S. can be found at www.bps.org.com
and their telephone number is 0116-254-9568.

Personally I consider this publication an absolute must for anyone working, studying, or with a keen interest in psychology. It is always producing original and innovative ideas on a host of subjects and never stops in its search for the truth in psychological fields ~ a brilliant read.
