Advantages: Lots of good listings and articles

Disadvantages: It costs more than the competition

With so many television listings guides out there it can be difficult sometimes to justify why you should spend £1.05 on the Radio Times each week when you can get similar listings magazines for less than 40p, and indeed the information is available for free online.

The joy of the Radio Times is the quality of its listings. It covers a great many TV channels (I still remember the days when it only covered BBC1 and BBC2 - you had to alsio buy the TV Times to see what was on ITV and Channel 4 - this was the days before satellite and cable TV). In addition to the channel listings though there are radio listings and lots of supporting articles, the best in this week's being the cover feature with Russell T Davies on DOCTOR WHO and his female companions. The guide to films on TV in the week ahead is also second to none.

If you search around on the internet you can also find a number of subscription deals which allow you to get the magazine for less than the cover price.

Highly recommended.
