Advantages: excellent radio listings, intelligent & informative articles

Disadvantages: not as gossipy as the TV Times, TV listings are quite cluttered, small print, can seem rather 'stuffy' and dull

The Radio Times is probably the most well established and trusted of the many TV listings guides available. However, it is also the most expensive at 79p per issue, when you can pick up a cheap TV guide for around 30p.

It is quite a glossy magazine with lots of articles to read, but it isn't as gossipy as some other magazines. Whereas the TV Times is your best friend, the Radio Times is more of a distant aunt, retaining a superior air.

The interviews seem to be of a much deeper nature than its rivals, and the articles are often more in-depth than I want to read with my cup of tea and piece of toast.

The film guide is very good, providing decent reviews of films on all the television channels, as well as features on popular cinema and video releases.

The actual TV listings are slightly clearer than in the TV Times, but the print is still quite small and with all the satellite channels to cover, the pages look very cluttered.

The pages of the radio listings are excellent though, with plenty of space devoted to them and clear, easy to read and in good detail. If you listen to the radio a lot, you will find no better radio listings.
