Advantages: Still the best TV guide around
Disadvantages: Not enough radio coverage
When the Radio Times was first published, it was regarded as the "official organ of the BBC", and called the Radio Times because radio from the BBC was all you had. As time went on, television gradually took over more of the pages until now, where TV programmes take priority over radio. However, while the radio listings are still comprehensive, there is far too much emphasis on BBC Radio. Do the Radio Times not realise there are now three independent national radio stations? While there are full listings for all five national BBC radio stations, only one independent national station - Classic FM - is covered. TalkSport and Virgin Radio may as well not exist as far as the Radio Times are concerned. I understand there may be problems with trying to fit all this in, but surely, if all five national TV channels can be listed, shouldn't a magazine called the "Radio" Times find room to list radio shows?
