I keep on coming back to this TV guide,it must be the oldest and started out as just a guide to Radio ,when only the rich had a TV set,I didnt have a TV set till I was 12 years old. Radio Times features all the radio channels, and most of the SKY channels for TV. Also the main BBC channels ,BBc 1&2. It has an easy to read ...  Read the complete review

I have to hold my hands up and admit I am rather a sad person; each week without fail I eagerly look forward to the new edition of the ‘Radio Times’. There is just something about it that reminds me of times gone by, a time when life was much simpler and television did not rule peoples lives the way it does now. Before I tell you what ...  Read the complete review

The radio times throughout its carrer has offered an excellent insight into Television. It has a wide range of information, it has a weekly guide for T.V - terrestrial and a minimal selection of satillite channels, a weekly guide to all the major radio stations and a review of every single terrestrial movie and a dozen of satellite reviews. It ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Radio Times: Times today (159 words)
by - written on 07/07/01 (Useful, 14 readings)
Rating:

The radio times is a magazine style guide to what is on TV. It has several listings with lots of info and gossip about the stars. It also lists several radio stations and their shows which makes it better than any other TV mag. Personally, I think it is sad that people even buy these magazines, haven't they got anything better to ...  Read the complete review

Is It Outdated? (482 words)
by - written on 30/06/01

When the Radio Times was first published it only carried listings of BBC radio programmes and when TV was launched it remained the only publication allowed to list what was on on the BBC due to the limited use of listings by copyright. The BBC did not allow other publications to use them probably fearing competition and perhaps feared that one day ...  Read the complete review

The Radio Times, at around 80 pence is the most expensive TV listings publication in the newsagents. Although if you like to read lots of TV and radio related stuff, rather than having a bog standard listings mag, then I suppose it is worth it. I tend to flit between the TV mags and often pick up a Radio Times if I feel like a good read, because ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Viewers& Brains (148 words)
by - written on 16/06/01 (Useful, 8 readings)
Rating:

The Radio Times to me is by far the best Tv magazine on the market. I would recommend it to any viewer with a Brain LOL. The views are great, not a "Murdock" twisted opinion, who can only recommend "Sky" Tv. The articles like " My kind of day" are pure escapism and can change your opinion of the person for life. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Radio Times: Quality magazine not just for radio (309 words)
by - written on 09/06/01 (Very useful, 45 readings)
Rating:

I have heard it said many a time, and I would just like to say why is it called ‘Radio Times’ always something that’s puzzled me…. But, the magazine is quality and for I think 80p it’s terrific value. You can tell the magazine is quality, there’s a good feel to it, and it’s quite thick so you ...  Read the complete review

The 'Radio Times' is nothing short of a British institution being the first magazine available on these shores solely dedicated to telling us what was on the wireless. Needless to say, things have moved on since issue one came out and the magazine has recently undergone a revamp making this a good time to access its various merits and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Radio Times: A British Institution? (1074 words)

The Radio Times is a British Institution, and has been around far longer than I have and can even remember! As I have just recently written an opinion on my favourite TV listings magazine - TV Choice (see op), I decided that it was only fair that I did one, on probably the longest serving TV and Radio listings magazine. Many ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tradition keeps me buying it. (415 words)
by - written on 31/05/01 (Very useful, 17 readings)

BBC's Radio Times is a magazine with many features. Unlike what most people seem to think, this magazine does not just contain TV and radio listings. Interviews etc are always in the bulging magazine whenever I pop into my local Asda to buy this. I have been buying this magazine for a long, a very long time. To be honest with all my ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Radio Times: Updated - Higher price but lower quality  (370 words)
by - written on 27/05/01 (Useful, 30 readings)

We are being forced to watch the slow demise of a giant among British TV listings magazines, for the chance to view the last dying gasps of this overbearing mortal we must forfeit an additional 6 pence each week on top of an already excessive charge of 79p. So why the outcry I here you ask, it’s only a TV mag after all, a flimsy 50 ...  Read the complete review

Hands up all those for whom the following sounds familiar. Think of a weekly magazine which you know quite well, but don't buy all year, apart from a special two weekly edition that comes out over the Christmas period. Yeah, I know it's obvious what it is because you can tell that from where this opinion is posted but you have to ...  Read the complete review

The Radio times is the ultimate in TV (& radio) listings magazines. Unlike other mags it reviews and rates every film shown on telly. It tells you when theres sex and violence involved so that you set your video or perhaps avoid it. It also prints interesting articles and news from the world of TV, John Peel is a particularly good read. Another ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Compulsive Reading for Telly Addicts ? (226 words)

Rating:

The Radio Times is probably the most well established and trusted of the many TV listings guides available. However, it is also the most expensive at 79p per issue, when you can pick up a cheap TV guide for around 30p. It is quite a glossy magazine with lots of articles to read, but it isn't as gossipy as some other magazines. Whereas ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Radio Times: Funding issues (173 words)
by - written on 31/12/00 (Useful, 8 readings)

I have no complaints with Radio Times. The only time I read it is when I go back home to visit the family! But I am concerned about its funding. As the BBC is funded by license payers is the Radio Times subsidised? Scenario 1: If the Radio Times (RT hereafter)is subsidised by the license fee, then I feel my money is being wasted ...  Read the complete review

Radio Times is an excellent publication and there is some good interesting reading in it but if you want it just for TV programmes its far too expensive. It doesn't have anything but BBC programmes in it so you have to buy another guide for ITV and satellite stations. However, there is no better publication for Radio listings. Premium Review Radio Times: great listings magazine (227 words)
by - written on 29/12/00 (Very useful, 30 readings)

I’ve been using the RADIO TIMES as my television guide for many years, and find it extremely useful. It not only has detailed television listings, but the radio listings are second to none. Indeed, I’ve never yet found another listings magazine which lists precise timings for BBC Radio 3 (the classical station), which is very important ...  Read the complete review

Like all we only used to get this at Christmas, but it has now become a staple feature of our house. It has all sorts of lifeestyle tips and the addition of "Soap and Flannel" has made it near enough complete. Alison Graham is the star writer in this mag (Soap and Flannel, TV Review). It is well above the quality of other tv guides, ...  Read the complete review
