This is how this magazine bills itself, and it's right! If you like looking at other people's interiors (which I do!!!) This is the publication for you. The cover is VERY glossy, colourful and definitely entices you to pick the magazine up off the shelf. This is the cheapest of all the interiors magazines at just £1.90 ans what excellent value for money it is! The readers' homes are lovely - real homes just like ones ordinary people aspire to - there are plenty of paint effects and DIY features, cooking, property features and much more packed between the covers. What I particularly like about Real Homes is the number of 'projects' ... Read the complete review

When I first saw Real Homes a couple of years ago, I realized how poorly served those of us interested in household / decorating / DIY things really were. Magazines seemed to showcase the huge houses of the rich, or artistic types - not often houses you could LIVE in and enjoy. Here was a magazine that seemed to have found out just what the public interested in household things really wanted. It's still as good today, in fact it has improved if anything. It still includes plenty of good ideas, tried and tested; lots of examples of real interiors for inspiration; and useful and easy to follow tips for jobs around the house. I remember reading an article on ... Read the complete review

I didn't realise that people actually liked this magazine!!! My mum used to buy it when it first came out because it had several competitions in it (all phone-ins) but the reason why i have an interest is because i did two weeks work experience with them last year just before the docu-soap about their publisher came out. Somebody told me that Real Homes has now been taken over by IPC magazines but i can't believe it myself. My opinion of this magazine is that it is a cheap excuse for a magazine... most of the articles are either bought from freelancers or made up using press releases and press pictures... they don't take much ... I always look forward to this magazine gracing the shelves every month, it's got a down to earth, practical approach to all it's ideas and concepts. Real Homes is published by Hachette Filipachi Ltd which as a port-folio of 7 other magazines including Elle which I think we've all heard of. The company is present in 39 countries publishing 262 titles and sells over 1 billion copies worldwide. Real homes retails at £2.50 per monthly issue consisting of around 188 pages or by subscription at £12 for 12 issues then £13.44 for every 6 issues, I think this is excellent value and would rate this magazine as one of my favourites - it truly does ... This has to be my favourite 'home' mag and I never miss an issue. As the title suggests it is FULL of readers homes. If you are nosey like me then it is just like peering into someones living room window - only you get to see all the other rooms as well! Joking aside it gives you lots of ideas and they have all been done by 'normal' readers. It is fun to admire or criticise someones handywork. The whole magazine is laid out clearly and the one thing I noticed is there isn't many advertisements. There are lots of giveaways each month. My favourite section is 'down your neighbourhood' where they compare houses ... Read the complete review
