Advantages: quite cheap, not too many adverts

Disadvantages: not much info

I got this magazine after cutting out a coupon in the Daily Mail, which involved me exchanging it for a free copy of the latest issue of Real. I have considered buying this magazine a few times in the past few weeks but have always gone for something else.
If I had decided to buy it, it would have set me back £1.50 for around 130 pages. I think this is quite cheap for a glossy magazine.

So I got onto the train and began to read. I have seen the advert for this magazine and I hate it. If anything it would put me off buying it as it makes the women look really bad. The front cover didn’t look too bad and contained a great deal of information.

The magazine is split into different sections as follows regulars, travel, food, family life, Up close, features, fashion and home and shopping.

The regular’s section included letters, a work and money file, and book and film reviews, not forgetting horoscopes.

The travel section featured Majorca and Paris in this issue but focuses on different countries in each issue. This section could be helpful if you are going to the countries concerned as it gives you details on places to go.

The Food section has recipes although I skipped these pages, as they were a bit boring.

The Family life section gives advice on parenting and there is a kidzone to give you advice on dealing with your kids.

Up Close is 16 pages of health and beauty. In this issue there was information on hair dyes, hairdryers, and beauty buys.

The magazine included features on sex and real life stories. I enjoyed reading the stories and felt they were wrote quite well and were quite personal.

In the fashion section there was clothes modelled. Although they were no clothes modelled that I would personally buy they were affordable unlike some clothes modelled in glossy magazines.

In the shopping section there was a selection of gifts and there was also some advice
on keep your house tidy.

Overall this magazine was not exactly breathtaking. It was okay in comparison to many of the glossy magazines on the market but I think I would buy an alternative to this magazine. I am not complaining too much though as I did receive this magazine for free. I will probably buy it again sometime in the future but only if there is something which strikes me on the front page.

It sounds OK for free, but I don't think I'd go out and buy it!
