Advantages: Tips and ideas, whatever your standard and goal.
Disadvantages: Don't be put off by the title - it is for runners of all abilities.
With a title like "Runner's World" you would be a little daft to think that this was anything other than a specialist running magazine!
What you might not realise, though, is that this is for runners of all abilities, male, female, fast or plodding, running for fitness, for fun, or just for the sake of it.
Whilst the emphasis is on distance running, there is a wide range of running relate topics, from what to wear, to what to eat, and how to get yourself motivated when the rain is lashing down and the wind is colder than the inside of your freezer! Tips and ideas to vary your running and maintain your interest as well as suggested training programmes for distances from 5k (about 3 miles - and the distance of the popular "Race for Life") to a full marathon mean that you don't lose interest in your running.
Different training schedules are provided for beginners, intermediates, and advanced runners, so you never need feel that it is "beyond you" - just pick the schedule that is right for you!
You will find plenty of information on gadgets and gizmos, the latest training clothing and, of course, the latest trainers on the market - handy if you are confused by the ranges in the sports shop. Runners World usually provide pretty good reviews so you are getting a fairly honest set of feedback for a product.
Runners World is available online too, with attached forums and lists of events to enter around the country, but in my mind sitting down with a magazine is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours!
Summary: A magazine dedicated to the sport of distance running. A must have for all abilities.
