Advantages: Accessible; informative; something for all types of runners

Disadvantages: Cover price

As you can probably guess from the name this magazine will be of interest to runners. However, you don't need to be someone who runs 6 miles a day and has a marathon pb of around 3 hours to enjoy this magazine and find something of interest within its pages.

The magazine is about 140 pages long. The first approx 50 pages is called Warm ups which contain advice and Q&As on training, beginners, food, human interest, local runs, mid and body, gear and a "what to do this month" diary. The main body has a variety of articles including interviews with famous runners, gear reviews, famous races, exercises to improves aspects of your running fitness and a wide range of recipes. Quite often the main body is on a related theme such as the London Marathon or "toughness". Towards the back of the magazine are the race reports - an I was there review of recent events - and the race diary - a list of upcoming events day by day and region by region. The final page is an interview with a famous person who runs.

The magazine costs £4 but as always you can generally get a much better deal, and free gifts, if you subscribe.

I'm a fairly recent convert to running but I find this magazine really enjoyable and there is always something in it to inspire me or for me to try out. The articles are written in a humourous, chatty style and it is not crammed with specialist jargon. I read this magazine cover to cover every month and often find myself going back and re-reading articles. I find I enjoy it more than lifestyle magazines.

Summary: A good read for beginners to keen runners.

The front cover AAAALLLLWAYS has an a-typically gorgeous flat stomached toned legged lycra clad female on the front!!! demotivating to us real women out there and how about a bit of six packed muscle hunk in shorts for us to oogle over? ;)
