Way back in August 1995 I bought the first three issues of SFX at the World Science Fiction convention in Glasgow. I was so pleased to find a SF magazine at last without a almost exclusive American outlook!
When I returned to Australia, I ordered this magazine through my newsagent.

The years went on and the price crept up - due to the exchange rate I am sure. It is now almost A$10 an issue. I stopped buying it as of last month.

Why did you ask? Well, I was finding it was getting a little to, how do I put this, trendy. It could be me that has changed of course, but I was finding the information a little too breezy and light. I will miss reading SFX each month but the extra money now in my pocket will to better uses, like food!

Maybe in time, I'll buy the ocassional issue just to keep my SF information up to speed. I certainly won't be buying the American magazines - they are even more expensive
