Advantages: Sometimes the Articles are Interesting

Disadvantages: Mostly Too old for age group, Bad gift, Not very informative

I am 13 years old and have been buying shout since i was about 11. i liked the articles that were printed and found it quite good, but the problem i have faced on so many acounts is the free gifts. Once i had a lipgloss that was out of date and smelt horrible, and an eyeshadow pallett that broke the first time i opened it after i got it out of the packet. when you tried to get the lid open, the glue was stringy and looked still wet. the products they give are poorly made and that put me off buying the magazine. Recently the layout has changed. it is smaller and very expensive. i feel it is trying to mimic the older magazines like Bliss and Cosmogirl. The price is £2.00 and i think that is too much for children to pay out of their pocket money. often the articles are too grown up and sexually orientated. Most of the articles are about fashion, and it gets very boring, along with the advertising. They have posters of half naked men and that should not be appealing to children that young. In the latest magazine i saw onteh front cover something like Girls Who Kill Themselves With Diet Pills' we shouldn't have to read things like this, a lot of the real life articles are too grown up and are quite depressing. it seems nowdays that you cannot get a decent Teenagers magazine without it being rude or explicet. Bliss and Sugar are too old for my age group, and yet i have seen multiple children of about 8 and nine looking and asking their parents to buy it for them. There are other magazines like Girltalk Animals and YOu, and DK Findout, but these all fall below my age categorie. Mizz is ok, but i think that may be changing a bit too. Why do these editors feel that it is ok to print these things in a teenagers interests it is not helping the growing problem of teen parents and things like that. i feel that some of teh magazines are overpriced and compared to adult magazines like Yours and Womens Weekly that my mum sometimes buy and are filled with pages and are only 1.40, i think this should change.

Summary: Too Old for young teenagers

I don't think I would ever buy it. The cover on its own puts me right off! Richard.

Wow it's two pounds now? When I was 13-14 it was about 75-80p but it was bad then but in a different way. Magazines gives us what they think we want not what actually want. Welcome to dooyoo! Nicky x
