Advantages: lots of competitions and quizes.
Disadvantages: Not the best soap magazine!
Now everyone that has read any of my ops will undoubtedly know that I love soaps because I happen to mention them in nearly all of my ops! This is the third soap magazine that I have written an op on but is it just the same as the other two? Soaplife is published by the makers of What's on TV and when it came onto the market there was only one other soap magazine on it, this was of course the original and best Inside Soap. Inside Soap is fortnightly and Soap life and the more recent all about soap (made by the makers of Inside soap) are both monthly. I always buy all three because I am soap mad but I think that you could probably get away with buying just one! Soaplife covers the current soap story lines for the month ahead but also has Soap Gossip, what would life be like without this? It also has "Soap Classics" (self explanatory), "Past lives" featuring one soap character in the current issue this is Kim Tate and "My life in soap" this features Judy Nunn (Home and Away) in the current issue. They also a regular poster pin-up , an article on my style, the latest issue takes a look at Laila Rouass from Family Affairs. They also have 5 things that one star couldn't do without this is good fun! And Life after soap in which Tina Hobley from Corrie says what she has been up to since she left. This magazine also has a letter page and your stars as well but what does make this magazine slightly different from the others is the competitions and puzzles. There are 3 major competitions for prizes from tickets to a celebrity party to books and even cash. The puzzles include an arrow word, a crossword and there is also a soap quiz and a spot the difference too! There aren't too many adverts I counted a total of 9 ½ pages out of 68 pages so not too bad. Even though this magazine is aimed at teenagers I think it appeals to any soap lover and if I had to choose one out of t
he three this wouldn't be my first choice unless it had something different to offer like an exclusive the others didn't have or a nice free gift! Not a bad magazine for £1.10 a month.

- 25/08/01 I hardly ever buy mags because they seem to be full of adverts, but this is one that sounds worth trying. |

- 23/08/01 sometimes you just need a magazine like this for a bit of a lightweight read. good op. |
