The Source is a hip hop magazine from our friends across the Atlantic. It covers most essential areas of hip hop and also brings in abject views of political situations and what is happening in the black world. It is not just an African American magazine though, although it is undoubtably geared towards this niche market. The Source is the biggest hip hop magazine, and it is not hard to see why. The magazine has a strong cohesive team of producers, and it is excellently put together and written. The issue I am holding in my hand at the moment, has particular appeal to me, as it depicts my favourite rapper, DMX, on the front in pastel colours. It ... Read the complete review

Finally UK newsagent are cathcing on to the recent boom in hip hop consumers, and finally they are bringing the most up to date magazine to their shelves. The Source Magazine has finally made its arduos voyage of discovery from the US to the North West corner of England!! The Source is the hip hop information superhighway in the UK, backed up by an awesome website which is being reconstructed as i speak to you. The magazine is, for lack of a better word, awesome. With top names headlining the front cover and informative, real interviews with the artists bringing us the most banging tunes around. The magazine is also famed for its ... Read the complete review

Why not, it may not cover UK Hip-Hop in any depth except to mention it exists, but it gives trustable opinions and a variety of articles on many topics. I have bought two albums because they got really good reviews and when I played them I saw that the magazine was correct. It gives good coverage of the injustice in the US and many articles are incredibly substantial even though there not about music. But I would like to hear about UK Hip-Hop aswell, since it's just as good but hasn't got company backing. If you want to know about UK Hip-Hop there are several good magazines avaliable that specialise in it. I enjoy reading Source and will probably continue to do ... Read the complete review

Had I been writing this review 7 years ago The Source would have been as an essential purchase as a pair of Shell Toes for the average UK B boy or girl. Sadly Shell Toes have stood the test of time whereas this magazine has not. What used to be a publication that prided itself on being the hip hop bible - its five mic rating guaranteeing a classic album - has now unashamedly sold out to the mighty dollar. Once you eventually get to the contents page after a whole catalogue of ads you will notice most articles feature a US hip hop act of dubious quality all wearing 1/2 a ton of iced out jewellery; without a trace of humour. In my experience this isn't what UK hip hop ... Read the complete review

Its good to see tha even in the UK we can keep up with events occuring in the hiphop/rap world from over the Atlantic. The SOURCE is a very well put together magazine. It has interesting articals and caters for my personal tastes, although i love hiphop/rap im not one for obscure artists that try to be different anyway they please without batting an eyelid towards their careers going down the drain. To sum it up i love popular rap, mainstream rap or whatever other labels it has! And coming to the point, SOURCE dissolves itself in that kind of ideology, it is in effect the 'HELLO' magazine of rap! The SOURCE is a hefty magazine compared to its ... Read the complete review
