“ Tells you all you need to know about your favourite celebrity „
Star Magazine calls itself the hottest celeb weekly, and although it's ok I wouldn't say it was the best magazine out there. I tend to choose my magazines purely on whats on the cover, I'm not faithful to one particular mag, although I do seem to choose Heat and OK more than any others.
Star magazine is priced at 85p, although every now and then you can pick up an extra magazine for free. The particular issue that I have to hand is number 293, with a 'Jordan exclusive' on the front cover, which actually turns out to be Jordan's mum Amy supposedly speaking out about how she doesn't know her own daughter any more. As the majority of us know, half the time this sort of stuff tends to be made up, and it seems that this suposed exclusive hasn't even come from Amy's mouth anyway, but from 'a source close to the family'! I love it when they write that, I just think - so you made it up then!? But I still buy these magazines!
The way that Star magazine presents itself is usually in the form of 3 or 4 cover stories (in this particular issue, the other main story is how Sienna and Britney got their bikini bodies - great like I'm interested!), then it has it's breaking news section, the big picture, celebs exposed, star fashion, hollywood star (all the latest news from across the pond), star bodies, star TV, and finally a Plus section with competitions, horoscopes and a list of stockists from the fashion section. The plus section also has a letters page where the star letter receives a prize (in this case a Samsung phone).
As I said in my introduction, this magazine is ok, but I tend to find it has it's favourite celebs and anyone not on this list gets well and truly slated. For example, in this issue it seems to be Katie Price, who they describe as 'vile' and 'bitter' when talking about her Tweets. I also don't like the section called 'rated or slated' where star's supposed 'style experts' give their verdicts on this weeks outfits. I tend to find that the celebs who look like they have actually have fashion sense and aren't wearing something totally outrageous get told they look dowdy and boring. Maybe its just me, but I think for impressionable young girls to read that if you don't have every single bit of flesh exposed on your body then your dowdy - not good!
The magazine does seem to print some half decent pictures of 'celebs spotted', but half of the time I'm left wondering how much of the stories they print are accurate.
Ok, every now and then to kill a bit of time.
Im reviewing Star Magazine, in particular issue 259, December 29th 2008
Star Magazine is predominatly a celebrity gossip magazine which includes a section on high street and celebrity fashion.
Quality of cover stories:
I was first attracted to this magazine because of its eyecatching text. This particular issue's cover included five celebrity headlines such as 'X Factor Exclusive- Alex: 'I did it!' There was also two fashion headlines including a christmas gift guide.
This issue offers that you can get ok! magazine for half price when you buy Star.

Star TV, gives you a run-down of the top ten programmes of the week. You also get a page a day listing of the weeks TV. Channels: BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4, Five as well as regional variations and digital listing on a seperate page.
Recommendation: In all this, is a brilliant magazine if celebrity gossip and fashion are your thing, howver if you like to read something with a bit of substance this is not for you.
Star magazine has everything to do with your favourite celebritys from Destinys child to Hollyoaks. It is well worth the money, for £1.70 you cant be bad with that. There is four different sections to this magazine, which are: SECTION 1---*Star gossip* - This sections tell yous the latest : star news in what has happened over the past fortnight. In July 17 - July 30 issue there is behind the scences at London Mardi Gras, it shows pictures of Hearsay, Atomic Kitten, Mel B, Penny from Big Brother and many more. Star people gives you the latest news on the hottest events, in this fortnight it shows how Kym Hearsay celebrated her 25th Birthday. Liam and Nicola were also spotted shopping and Atomic Kitten on acting in Home and Away. Their is loads of stars in this part of the magazine. Hearsay no not the group but this was the magazine that Hearsay got the name from. It is actually the part of the magazine where you hear things first like Jerry Springer could be joining Coronation Street and J-Lo has learned Krav Maga to help her do her own stunts in her new movie. Star rumours let you know about the celebrity rumours but they dont name any names, but it is a good part of the magazine to read. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The next part of the magazine is about The Hottest Stars its when the celebritys get interviewed. Some of the people that have got interviewed are: .Destinys Child. Everyone knows who these three are Kelly, Beyonce and Michelle. As most people know Beyonce and Kelly are cousins and they have been signing together for years. .Jack Ryder. Also known as Jamie Mitchell in the top tv show Eastenders. Star was the first magazines to show him and his girlfriend Kym Marsh (Hearsay) together. .Wyclef Jean. This perfect Gentleman was in the fugees but he left and decided to sing on his own. He has sold over a million albums and in his interview he talks
about how his parents told him that they werent his real parents. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Third Section is about Star Style it includes: .then+wow- it shows one celebrity and how they have changed over the years. .Star look- features the latest star look last fortnight it was lady marmalade but this week its flags. It shows you clothes, shows, sock, bags, everything really and it tells you the price and where you can purchase the item. .Star style- you can get the same style of clothes as your favourite celebrity in this section. It shows you a cheaper version of the iem and a picture of the star wearing them. It is a good part of the magazine for people who would want the same look of a celebrity. .Star tips- stars tell you their favourite brand either from foundation, toothbrushes, bath gel etc. .Style squad- shows you stars looking their best and their worst in their clothes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the last Section its Whats in every issue: Star Talk - this is the part of the magazine where the readers send in their letters. Star Report - shows you stars who started of young, and what film they were in, and what they are at now. Other things in this magazine is things like Horoscopes, Star Challenge, Preview, and a day off with one of the stars. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My opinion on this magazine is that it is really helpful and has lots of information in it. It is just packed with everything that you wanted to know about the stars. I recommend that you buy this magazine if you like a bit of a gossip.
