Advantages: Good gadgets and car coverage

Disadvantages: The lack of sport and far less women make it a less exciting read

The mens magazine industry is a fierce business, there is competition everywhere. Cars, gadgets, women, sport, many different categories. Stuff magazine is mainly focused on gadgets, but also includes a bit of every other available category. But does it work?

~Gadgets~
Stuff covers every major gadget released to the market today, and every aspect of them. Whether it be a CD player, ipod, mobile phone, TV, or one other of their many gadgets reviewed, Stuff will always offer a thorough review of the product, and if it is good enough it will make the top 10 gadget list for its category. I personally have found these reviews to be very helpful when choosing a product.

~Women~
While Stuff used to be a magazine resemblant to Nuts, it has not moved on from that. The main article of every magazine will still have pictures of a hot model holding the gadget or subject of the article. This low amount of women provides a good mix with the other aspects of the magazine.

~Cars~
I have always been pleased with the car side of Stuff. They tend to have one large car article featured within the magazine each month. These articles could have any car in them, but it is 90 percent of the time about a car that is yet to be released, looking very futuristic. I have always loved the car articles in this magazine, they never get too detailed and are always very cool.

~Sport~
Unfortunately sport has become less of a frequent topic in the more recent magazines. Where before proper articles with news of sport and some other sporting discussions were featured, none now exist really. The only reference to sport is in the form of interviews with sporting stars and of reviews of different kit that can be used for different physical activity. And it's not always mainstream either, it could be about cycling or ultimate frisbee, very annoying.

So in summary, Stuff magazine is a good mens alrounder, but just quite doesn't match up to what it used to be. If you're not put off at all and like your gadgets, then its £3.99 an issue per month, although a subscription will set you back less and will also come with a free gadget item, normally worth a price in the region of £30-40, a nice incentive, but for me not worth the money, an alternative like GQ is in my opinion a better choice.

Summary: Recommended for gadget lovers
