Advantages: aimed brilliantly at its target audience

Disadvantages: some parents may think the content is unsuitable

Sugar is, without doubt, the best teenage magazine there is. I remember reading the very first issue at a friend’s and from then on being hooked for the rest of my younger teenage years. In fact, I still have friends who read it now! The magazine has everything. From problem pages, to make-up tips, to funny stories, to free bits of make-up or jewellery every now and then. Anything a teenage girl could desire is included.

The best part of it, in my opinion, is the occasional sealed section on sex. This part is generally very educational (it rarely includes ridiculous stuff such as “how a girl should act to get the guy she wants”), and taught me pretty much all the basics about things such as STDs and contraception (more than I was ever taught in sex ed. anyway). The only problem was that my particularly unliberal parents read it, decided it wasn't suitable, and then banned me from reading it ever again. Not that that stopped me.
