Advantages: Lots to read, competitions, beauty, fashion and celebrity features

Disadvantages: Misleading, pricy, arguably unhelpful

I have a bit of a love-hate thing going on with British fortnightly teen magazine "Sugar".

It draws you in with bright and bold covers splashed with the faces of the lastest celebs such as Vanessa Hudgens or Taylor Swift and attached are sweat-shop goodies which spend more time clogging up the underside of your bed than making your eyes stand out or whatever. Whats worse is it babbles on about making girls feel confident- employing Agony Aunts who are probably on 30K a year just to say "sweetie, tell your doctor" or "honey-pie, tell your mum"....er, thats the reason why we wrote to you, because we, er, didn't want to? Some stuff is easier said than done.
I have also seen pages where Sugar are frequently critical of celebrity's outfits, haircuts and life-style choices, and their additional feature "lad-mag" points out aspects of an "ideal girlfriend"....yeah...confidence...whats that?
Even worse, occasional bulletins they make about the enviroment could easily be strained by pointing out the excessive packaging used to wrap a plastic free gift from half way across the globe. Contradictive? Just a tad. Lol.

On the other hand, Sugar can be argued to have had some good articles- including pieces concerning healthy eating, exercise and ways to boredom-bust, which could help to combat crime and obesity, as Sugar is internationally sold. Although, with the frequently mentioned "Sugarscape" website, where girls could possible spend hours creating profiles, playing games and entering competitions, maybe exercise is contradicted as well...

However, it is true that all stories have two sides to them, and i agree that Sugar is very well aimed at young girls with its colour scheme, cool features, relevance to modern teen intrests (i.e fashion, beauty) and frequent releases. Furthermore, i like its size- its small so it can easily be fitted into a bag, stashed away quickly and read whilst out and about. However, some may find it a little expensive at around £2.45 per issue.

Overall, the magazine "Sugar", avalible from most supermarkets and newsagents, can be found to have pros and cons for the British teenage girl- it does suit intrests but not always needs.

Summary: Sugar could be improved, but is very appealing to young girls
