Advantages: Has some good competitions, If they think an injustice has been done they will help fight it

Disadvantages: same old stories as other magazines only different names and places

Take a break, calls itself, the Worlds favourite True life weekly magazine and you get it all for the price of 74p

The first thing you notice of course is the cover. On the right hand side you will find the head and shoulds picture of a model and on the right pictures of the stories to entice you to entice you to buy the magazine. All the stories probably have one of the 7 deadly sins starred in it.

Open the magazine and you will be told which page which story is on.

Brainwaves Roadshow

This is tips from different counties. If your tip is printed you get £20 and if it is with a picture you will get £50.

Beauty SOS

Liz Wilde answers all sorts of beauty questions from how, to where, to can I such and such. On her page she even has a kids corner for you to seek help about your childs beauty problems.

Boot Sale Tales

If you have bought anything from a car boot sale write and tell them or better still send a picture of your buy and tell everyone how clever you are to get it so cheap.

Life Stars

Dena charts your stars and gives you one little extra bit for that week. One thing I like about her is that after each star chart she does not give you a telephone number for you to telephone at £1.50 a minute.

The Grumps

Every week an item of food is focused on whether it is fresh or frozen. They go to supermarkets and find their own brand name for that food and compare it giving marks out of 10.

David Hales True Secrets

He is their Agony Uncle. Take a break says he is Britains number 1 advice columnist. Give him his due though as he always has a Mens problem selection as well.

Sensible and Barmy

If you want to try your hand at writing letters on literally anything, you write to these two and get £50 for the letter of the week and any other gets £25. They also have a picture of the best and the worse so if your other half has done wrong you put him in the stocks or praise him if hes been good.

One thing Take a break is very very good at and that is giving publicity to the "little person" and really getting them noticed. At the moment it is The Botley one. This woman done wrong yes by stabbing a youth that broke into her home. Him and his friends are free to go on holiday and she is ill and in prison. They are doing all they can to get this injustice corrected.

You then have the stories and some of these are a bit over the top! or exactly like you have read hundreds of times before. They say they are all true but I do know for a fact that some do slip through the net. A couple of years ago My Mum looked through Take a break and saw a photo of her late Uncle and his 2nd wife on their wedding day - recognised it because my Grandma had it on her sideboard. Names were different so my Grandma had to go and buy it and look at it. Yes it was them and oh boy the tale she told of how she had ever since a little girl wanted a sex change! Never mentioned before. It was just for the money.

Then you get to the main reason that people buy take a break. I dont think it is for the stories as once you read one you have read them all. Sooooooo

Yes people buy it for the competitions. There are usually about 15 of them where you can win holidays, money, a make over, travel vouchers etc. Every week they show you pictures of people who win and the names of others. People do win. People buy to try and win weekly. You can text, fill in the coupon or even fax the answers.

On Thursday though, the day that Take a Break comes out you should see all the woman that head for the magazine to buy it.
