Advantages: Interesting reading; plenty of variety, great articles.
Disadvantages: A bit too many holiday adverts at times.
I have always liked The Daily Mail. I always notice how it seems to sell out so quickly too so i am sure that it is one of the most popular Newspapers around. In fact, i know only too well, that if i am not going out anywhere except my local news-agents that i need to buy the paper early in the day otherwise there will not be any left!
The Daily Mail is a British middle of the road tabloid newspaper. It was actually first published in 1896!! and its original cost was a halfpenny;with The Mail on Sunday being introduced in 1982. There is plenty of news in this paper and i like the size of it and the layout. Its not a huge great big newspaper, but a sort of medium sized one which is easy to read and understand.
The cost of the paper is £0.50 pence during weekdays, £0.80 pence on Saturdays and £1.50 for The Mail on Sunday. There are frequent offers in this Newspaper such as low price holidays. You will find plenty of political stories in this paper which i always find interesting reading even if i get angry sometimes at what i am reading! I very much like the Mails health related pages which they usually have printed once a week. You can get so much great information here on how to treat certain illnesses/personal stories etc. I also think heir 'money mail' pages are very good, offering plenty of advice regarding finances and useful up to date information for savers and investors.
There are plenty of quizes/crosswords to do in the centre pages and me and my partner often do the 'word wheel'! We have little competitions to see who can get the most words. At the moment my partner is in the lead by about 3! The Mail also has some good recipes in it on a daily basis and some great holiday guide pages, although sometimes it goes a bit over the top with their advertising of holidays!
I can't say too much about their sports pages at the back of the newspaper because i am not really a sports fan! but my partner always reads these pages so i would guess that they are quite good!
I think the question and answer pages can sometimes be interesting; you can learn a few good facts here and i also like their letters page.
Their layout of whats on television is really good; very easy to read. I have on occasion bought a different newspaper (not being able to get The Mail) and been really disappointed by their Television guide! I really like the Mails weekly Television guide that you get on Saturdays called Weekender.
The Mail on Sunday is good too, with plenty of magazines and alot to get through regarding reading!
There have been some law suits against The Mail over the years, but i think this is something that can happen sometimes in this field of the Media. A couple of the Law suits are detailed below;
~~In february 2001 Sir Alan Sugar was awarded £100,000 in damages following a story regarding his stewardship of Tottenham Hotspur Football club~~
~~In May 2006 Sir Elton John was awarded £100,000 in damages after false allegations concerning his behaviour and manners.~~
I think the Daily Mail is a good paper though, well written in my view with some good write ups, informative news, good reviews and great columnists. In my opinion it deserves a 5 star rating.
Summary: A great Daily Newspaper.
