Advantages: None at all
Disadvantages: The entire paper is a disadvantage
The Daily Record is a really popular newspaper in Scotland - if not the most popular. However how this has happened completely defeats me!
My mum reads this paper and has always read it. I often pick it up hoping that they will have changed the content to offer some kind of reflection of what is actually happening in the world - only to be continually disappointed. This paper costs 30p per day and I belive that you could find far better quality by saving your money for the week and buying a children's comic. In fact I often ask my Mum to loan me her 'Comic' for a read.
Even the Saturday edition with its £100 crossword offers no saving graces. The clues in the crossword itself are so benign that my 9 year old children could answer them.
As for the sports content - unless you are a fan of the so called 'Old Firm' then forget it! No other sport exists apart from football - with the occasional nod to horse racing to pander to the betting shop crowd!
If all of this makes me sound like an outright snob then I make no apologies - but suffice to say I was raised in the typical area they are targetting but managed to develop an intellect!
Summary: Please buy a different paper.
